Glass and Glazing for Replacement Windows

The appearance of the glass in a window has a major impact on the overall appearance of the window and the property in general.

Here is a brief description of some of the glass types available:

Embellished glass such as Georgian or Leaded lights.
Stained Glass or "coloured lights" designs
Patterned or Obscure Glass

Although K - Glass is hardly an embellishment to the appearance of the window it has other benefits which we will briefly describe here. To ensure that your replacement windows perform to the very highest of requirements, Low E, (or K - Glass), is considered essential.

K - Glass (Low E or "Low Emissivity")

K - Glass is a form of "eco-friendly" glass which allows you to save even more energy than standard double glazing would.

Double glazing using Low-E glass has energy insulation properties similar to triple glazing but without the increase in weight.

The advantages of using K - Glass are:

* Improved insulation.
* Reduced heating bills.
* Reduced carbon dioxide emissions.
* Reduced condensation.

Typical U values: (the lower the better)

* Single clear glass is rated at: 5.4
* Ordinary double glazing is rated at: 2.6
* K - Glass is rated at: 1.8
